Academic Counseling and Educational Support - ACES
ACES is a program developed and implemented in 2010-2011 at J.H. Rose High School. Working closely with administrators, student services staff, classroom teachers, the school social worker and SRO, ACES counselors monitor and mentor students with environmental disadvantages, chronic absenteeism and academic challenges. ACES counselors are only part-time on campus.

ACES counselors perform the following:
- Maintain records to support student contacts
- Maintain an ACES Student Contact Log as generated by Administration
- Monitor student attendance
- Make parental contact as needed
- Communicate with appropriate guidance personnel, classroom teachers, coaches, the school nurse and COVID support staff
- Implement Credit Adjustment contracts (FF contracts) as recommended by administration
- Follow up with students that fail one or more classes after each report card
- Advise students of tutoring options (REFRESH, Khan Academy, Hippocampus.org, etc.)
- Assist teachers when they have referred a student to ACES
- Attend Student Services meetings as needed
