• Career Development Plan Promotion Requirement for Current 8th Grade Students

    Dear Parents and Guardians:

As part of our district’s commitment to preparing students for future success, each student will create a
personalized Career Development Plan (CDP) over the coming months. Based on new state guidance, all 8th
graders must have a CDP to be promoted to 9th grade. A CDP is crucial for helping students align their
academic choices with their career goals as they prepare for high school and beyond. With staff support, each
student will review their CDP in 10th grade as part of the promotion process to 11th grade, ensuring students
stay on track toward their post-graduation goals. In addition to a CDP, students in middle and high school will
have scheduled career development lessons at school, led by Pitt County Schools’ staff.

What is a CDP? A CDP is a comprehensive document designed to help students identify their career interests,
set achievable goals, and outline the steps they need to take to achieve those goals. This plan will include
elements such as career interests, skills assessments, educational and training requirements, and short- and
    long-term career goals.

How will my child develop a CDP? Students will utilize the Major Clarity platform which provides assistance
with career development planning. Students will access Major Clarity via Classlink.

How can you access and monitor your child’s CDP? To ensure that you are well-informed and can actively
support your child, please ask your child to log in to their Major Clarity page to view their CDP. Teachers can
also share specific information with you from your student's CDP through email. If you are not sure if you have
your current email address on file with the school please contact our Data Manager, Ms. Wells.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child developing a CDP, please do not hesitate to contact our
Career Development Coordinator Teacher or School Counselor; Mr. Hill and Ms. Miller.

Thank you for your continued support in your child’s educational journey. We look forward to working together
to help them achieve their career goals.

    Sincerely,

    Yolanda Brickhouse
