Migrant Education Program (PITT MEP)
A significant portion of Pitt County's economy is driven by agriculture, which brings many migratory workers and their families to our area in search of seasonal jobs (such as working in the harvest of fruits and vegetables, packing plants, dairy farms, fisheries, slaughter houses, poultry farms, plant nurseries or orchards). These families, including out-of-school youth, often move frequently, which can disrupt their children's education and put them at risk of falling behind or not attending school at all.
Our goal is to support the children of migratory families to ensure they have the opportunity to stay on track and ultimately graduate from school.-
